Sources and context

A podcast episode, web article or research paper can start one of our articles. We link to the original material and attribute its claims to the speakers, authors or publisher. Background sources add context on the products, studies and ideas discussed.

We use publisher transcripts when available. We may also use a matching transcript from a third-party service such as Podscripts, or transcribe the episode audio with a speech model. Identity and coverage checks do not guarantee word accuracy. Full transcripts stay private.

Personal experiences and opinions remain attributed to the people expressing them. Forecasts describe possible outcomes. A source’s claim is not, by itself, proof that it is true. Company announcements remain the company’s account. Research findings retain their experimental conditions and limits.

Sponsors pay for a labelled placement in the daily email and on article pages. They do not choose, read or change articles before publication.

The role of AI

We use AI to write and edit articles. Articles can publish automatically without human review.

AI, transcripts and extracted document text can contain errors or miss context, including in names, numbers and technical terms.

Our formats

Briefings

A briefing reports one development when it happens. We correct or clarify it later; a new development gets a new briefing.

Ideas

An idea page explains a concept, theory or proposal: where it comes from, what supports it, the objections and the open questions. We update it when new material changes the explanation.

Topics and Hot topics

A topic page follows one event across podcast discussions, with an overview and a timeline of what changed. It updates when new episodes discuss the event.

Hot topics come up repeatedly in recent podcast discussions. Repeated discussion does not confirm a claim. Browse our topic pages.

Corrections and updates

Each published version records its date and the reason for the change. Earlier published versions remain available from the article.
